To Compute a Confidence Interval for the Difference Between Two Proportions (Independent Samples)

  1. Press STAT.
  2. Press the right arrow key to scroll over to the TESTS menu.
  3. Press the down arrow key to scroll down until 2-PropZInt is highlighted.
  4. Press ENTER.
  5. Input the number of “successes” for the first group next to the x1 (remember: this must be a whole number).
  6. Input the sample size for the first group next to the n1.
  7. Input the number of “successes” for the second group next to the x2.
  8. Input the sample size for the second group next to the n2.
  9. Input the desired confidence level, formatted as a decimal.
  10. Highlight the word Calculate and press ENTER.
  11. The calculator should now display the desired confidence interval.
