Module Two: The Client

MODULE 2 Competencies

This module introduces the importance of responding with cultural awareness in order to serve the whole client. The focus is on aspects of care navigation that empower clients by assisting and preparing them to understand their personal profile, including cultural considerations, personal characteristics, health literacy, and activity levels. Also included are an overview of Behavioral Health and information related to End of Life care.

MODULE COMPETENCIES

Upon completion of the module the student will be able to:

  • Use communication methods to build professional relationships and positive interactions across multiple cultures and demographics
  • Use knowledge of issues, warning signs, and risks that may arise in dealing with behavioral health conditions and seek resources to support care
  • Apply knowledge of chronic disease, end of life, and population management to the selection of resources and navigation of care
  • Apply knowledge of diverse demographics and culture to interact sensitively and decrease barriers to care
